This is Part 1 of a two-part presentation based on John Hattie's book, "Visible Learning for Teachers". It is intended as a professional development resource for teachers. Part 1 is about teachers as "activators of learning" and explores Hattie's research on effect sizes in relation to teaching practices. It includes a hand-out which the author has developed, based on Hattie's work, and which the basis of a discussion activity during the presentation. The presentation is designed to be delivered over a 1 hour session.
